Erb St Earth Day
Photos from the Erb Street Mennonite Church Earth Day celebration on May 17th, 2015. Thanks to Marion Roes for contributing these.
A visual reminder of our commitment to care for the earth — each of us traced and cut out our hand-print to symbolize our impact in helping others and caring for the earth
Detail of the commitment tree. The small buds sprinkled amongst the hands represent commitment to exploring a new idea, for instance, biking to work, or a new volunteer commitment.
When given paper (for tracing hands), some make origami.
After the service, there were intergenerational activities instead of Sunday School…
People painted flower-pots…
…made tree rubbings…
…took photos of our environment…
…and folded green bin liners out of newspaper.
As always in nice weather, lots of people biked to church (we might need a second rack!)
In front of the church, there are prayer flags with prayers for Nepal.
On the roof, we have solar panels.
