Sermon: An Easter Laugh – Scott Brubaker-Zehr – audio

Psalm 18:15-16, 21-24

15 Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare
at your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. 16 He reached down from on high; he took me; he drew me out of mighty waters.
21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my God. 22 For all his ordinances were before me, and his statutes I did not put away from me. 23 I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from guilt. 24 Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

John 20:1-9

1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, and the cloth that had been on Jesus’s head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed, for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

Mark 10:45

45 For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many.”
