November Coffeehouse for Haiti
On the evening of Friday November 11 we had a coffeehouse in the church basement. We used it as a fundraiser for Haiti, and as a chance to escape reality. It was really quite nice, with quite a variety of performances. The only downside was that the photographers only realized they should be using their cameras halfway through the evening, so we missed some wonderful accordion playing and story telling, sibling singing, and a future pianist.
Marg channelling some Cohen, reading his poetry over music she created.
Phil sharing some very soft rock’n’roll.
Joanne playing crazy requests from her magic bunnies in the hat. Too bad we missed a picture of her playing backwards.
Some of the audience sitting at the photographer’s table.
Marg & Karen led us in Hallelujah. A tribute.
Jules explaining that you have to realize the song is from the point of view of a dog…
Our MC, artfully offset by the foreground mic.
Angie and Darrell exhorting the blues to come again no more.
An audience member looking for a rabbit in the hat.
Our challenge quiz for prizes from Haiti. This round was the literary category.
An overview of the ambience. This captures the colour more accurately. The camera adjusted many of the photos to appear white.
